PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih started the main stage of construction of the new Continuous Casting Plant No. 2. Capacity of two new continuous casters (LFCC Nos. 2, 3) will be 1.4 million tons per year each. It will enable larger CC-billets output. The total cost of the investment project is over $100 million.

Now the construction of new ingot and material warehouses are already completed, as well as of truck branch from Tsentralnyi overpass bridge. Main building of LFCC No. 2 is on the way. Here the arrangement of sheet piles for scale pit of LFCC No. 3 and cooling bed is completed, over 50 foundations for bearing columns are installed. Construction of pulpit Nos. 2, 3 and installation of crane beams is in progress.

Commissioning of new continuous casting machines will allow PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih to produce steel billet with the size of 130х130 and 150х150. After the reconstruction of Light Section Mill No. 4, the plant will produce rebar from CC-billets; this will reduce cost and improve product quality. Construction of the new CC Plant involves additional work opportunities both for contractors and for the company’s employees.

Hot tests of LFCC No. 3 equipment are planned for Q3, and after three months it is expected to get the first billet from LFCC No. 2. Final commissioning of the facilities is planned in Q1 2019.
