In January-February Ukraine produced 2977 thousand tons of rolled metal, of which local customers received only 334 thousand tons, or 11.3% of the total volume.
“In January-February 2017 of 3188 thousand tons produced 2536 thousand tons (79.5%) were exported, while the rest (652 thousand tons, or 20.5%) were sold domestically”, reported Ukrmetallurgprom.
This year Ukraine imported 193 thousand tons of rolled metal, up by 42% YoY.
Thus, in 2 months out of 527 thousand tons of rolled metal consumed, imports accounted for 31%, as opposed to 17.3% of 788 thousand tons last year.
“The trend of imports growing has been observed for quite a long time. In 2015 Ukraine imported some 770 thousand tons of rolled metal; in 2016 – 1060 thousand tons, and in 2017 – 1302 thousand tons”, Ukrmetallurgprom noted. (Ukrainian metal)
