Krasnoyarsk Aluminum Works has commissioned a new foundry complex. The preparations lasted for 2 years.
The new complex is able to produce tubular ingots with the diameter of 457 mm.
This is the record size for the Russian aluminum industry.
Such ingots do not require additional treatment and are in demand all over the world.
“The new complex is economically important: the region has to move away from raw materials and start deep processing. Earlier KrAZ sent only 30% of its products for processing. With the commissioning of the complex we will produce 55% of aluminum as ready-made goods”, the acting regional governor Alexander Uss said.
He believes that all the 2.5 million tons of primary aluminum produced in Russia must be made into wares.
KrAZ intends to produce 10 thousand tons of tubular ingots per month. (Ukrainian metal)
