In 2017 Kyshtym Electrolytic Copper Plant reached a new manufacturing record – it produced 129 thousand tons of copper cathodes, up by 5% YoY.
This was mostly the result of raw copper manufacture growth at Karabashmed, which supplied KMEZ with raw materials. Thus, in 2017 the works produced 120 thousand tons of copper, up by 7% YoY.
“In 2016 the plant switched to manufacture only of its own raw materials, and was no longer dependant on copper scrap deliveries. In 2017 it created the stock of anodes, which allowed for the faultless manufacture of cathode copper”, KMEZ CEO Andrei Kudryavtsev noted.
In 2018 the company will continue large-scale modernization. The construction of two additional rows of 40 electrolysis baths each will allow it to increase copper cathode output by 15%, to 140 thousand tons per year, while the development of the copper wire rod manufacture will yield 140 thousand tons per year, up by 40% from the current level.
Investments in 2017-2018 are estimated at 679 million rubles. (Ukrainian metal)
