Kazakh manufacturers have great and unrealized potential of participation in major construction projects.
“For example, ArcelorMittal Temirtau produces some 400 thousand tons of rebars per year that could be used in construction. At the same time we import over 340 thousand tons of rebars. Local rebars could be used in the project of the light rail transportation system construction in Astana”, the first vice-minister of investments and development Alik Aidarbaev said.
According to him, Kazakhmys corporation could produce around 60 thousand tons of copper wire rod per year, which is used to manufacture cable, but it only produces 10-15 thousand tons, as local companies prefer importing. (Ukrainian metal)
