Steel consumption in Russia in 2017 will grow by 5-7% YoY, to 40 million tons, Severstal believes.
According to the group corporate strategy director Anton Laptev, the main driver will be investments in the local GDP. At present their share is below 20%, but has to be at least 25%.
Steel consumption was at its highest in 2013 – 43.3 million tons. Severstal believes that to gain this level Russia will need some 3 to 5 years. (Ukrainian metal)
