Coal exports via Rosterminalugol Terminal, the largest dedicated coal port in Russia’s North-West region and a member of the largest coal port holding Port Management Company LLC, has reached 16 million tons. The company reported that the milestone was recorded on August 21.
The 16-millionth ton was loaded onto Handymax dry bulk carrier Albion Bay. The vessel was loaded with 44,000 tons of export coal and is now bound for France. The M/V Albion Bay is the 228th among other dry bulk carriers that have docked at Rosterminalugol berth since January.
The facility operation pace for the last 11 days was a record for the stevedore enterprise. On average, the terminal was loading 91,000 tons of commodity a day, which is an absolute record not only for Rosterminalugol, but also for the coal ports of the whole European part of Russia.
The same 16-millionth ton milestone last year was reached only on November 25, and the 2016 year-end coal throughput was 18.1 million tons. (Portnews/Ukrainian metal)
