Omutninsk Iron and Steel Works is carrying out its program of technical revamping.
At present the company is preparing to modernize its steel-smelting capacities, in particular repair its open-hearth shop premises.
OMZ faced a shortage of steel because of the increase of rolled metal capacities with the mill-500 being put into operation. To balance the manufacture it was decided to optimize the steel capacities, in particular, by constructing an electric are furnace. (Ukrainian metal)
