In June Ukrainian market received 269 thousand tons of scrap, up by 18 thousand tons MoM, with 1421 thousand tons delivered since the year beginning.
According to the state enterprise Ukrpromvneshexpertisa deputy director Yuri Dobrovolsky, the raw materials shortage is still felt on the market. Since the year started, the demand in scrap has been covered by 79%, in June – 95%.
In June scrap exports decreased by 30% MoM, to 29.1 thousand tons. Turkey imported 80% of scrap, and Moldova – 20%.
In January-June Ukraine exported 138 thousand tons of scrap, down by 95 thousand tons YoY.
June scrap prices fell by 100 UAH, to 5106 UAH per ton mostly because of the high stocks and export difficulties.
In June scrap stocks increased to 134 thousand tons, up by 35 thousand tons MoM.
“In July scrap deliveries will fall a bit, as many procurers and traders will be holding their stocks till the prices start growing on the local market. In August deliveries will increase following the growth of the purchase prices, while in September they will decrease as the scrap and rolled metal price situation will worsen”, Dobrovolsky said.
