Severstal Balakovo, a part of Severstal Russian Steel, has started producing hot-rolled wire (wire rod) with 6.5 mm diameter.
The quality has been confirmed by the laboratory tests and corresponds to GOST 2590 and TU 14-1-5283-94. The shop can produce some 65 tons of wire rods per hour.
The wire rods are used in the manufacture of electrodes, ropes and cables. They can also be used as rebars when manufacturing ferroconcrete wares.
Earlier the works started producing 6 mm wire rod. (Ukrainian metal)
