In the first quarter of 2017 Ukraine decreased carbon steel output by 7.9% YoY, to 5.596 million tons. This is the minimal level since March 2015.

Pig iron manufacture dropped by 13.6% YoY, to 5.054 million tons, that of rolled metal – by 8.1%, to 4.909 million tons.

Metallurgical coke output decreased by 21.4%, to 2.603 million tons, while that of pipes – grew by 31.5%, to 244.5 thousand tons.

Average daily output of steel in March totaled 57.5 thousand tons, as opposed to 61.1 thousand tons in February and 67.8 thousand tons in January.

Average daily pig iron production in March dropped to 50.8 thousand tons from 55.9 thousand tons in February and 61.7 thousand tons in January.

In 2016 Ukraine produced 21.41 million tons of rolled metal, 24.197 million tons of steel and 23.589 million tons of pig iron, all up by 6.4%, 5.5% and 7.8% YoY respectively. (Ukrainian metal)
