Gerdau Long Steel North America, Nucor, Keystone Consolidated Industries and Charter Steel have asked the US government to initiate an antidumping investigation on the carbon and alloyed steel wire rod imports from Ukraine and 9 more countries (Belarus, UK, Italy, Spain, OAE, Russia, Turkey, SAR and South Korea).

According to the companies, in 2014-2016 wire rod imports increased by more than 56%, while the average prices dropped by 32%.

Ukraine is facing the duty of 21.64-61.64%, while Russia could be hit by a 216.5-821.4% duty.

The Department of Trade has 20 days to determine the necessity to start antidumping investigation. The whole process before the duties are applied could take a year. (Ukrainian metal)
