The situation at the metal works, taken by the DPR-LPR militants from their rightful owners, has become almost critical in just 1 week.
Despite the local authorities’ forecasts, which promised to quickly reorient production to Russian and provide up to 70% of the budget revenues from these companies, most of them start to shut down.
The future of the works is still vague, while the employees are in a difficult situation.
“The last salary was given in early February, and the production has stopped. On March 1, the works was blocked by armed men and all the management stopped”, a Yenakievo Iron and Steel Works employee reported.
He believes that if the works does not resume operation in the near future, most of its employees will have to seek for job outside DPR-LPR.
The Donetsk Iron and Steel Works is in a similar situation. The owners of the company announced the shut down on February 27, prior to the introduction of the DNR management.
