Because of the emergency situation in the town of Avdiivka the Avdiivka Coke and Chemical Works has decreased coke deliveries to the Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works.
“Avdiivka Coke is on the brink of collapsing following the constant shelling. Coke deliveries to Ilyich have decreased, and Avdiivka is our only coke supplier at present. So we are in a sticky situation as well – only two of the four blast furnaces are operating”, the Mariupol Ilyich CEO Yuri Zinchenko said.
According to him, the main goal of the company under such circumstances is to keep the gas-transporting system, as the operation of all technological machines depends on it.
“We have reserves for 2 fays and a half. That’s enough for the operation of two blast furnaces at the lowest capacity. So we hope that the situation in Avdiivka stabilizes in the nearest future”, he said. (Ukrainian metal)
