In December 2016 the license to work of some of Krasnodonugol mines, all of them within the Metinvest Group, has expired,

Metinvest has filed all the necessary documents to the corresponding state authorities and expects to receive the license in February. Thus, at present these mines dig coal with the violation of the Ukrainian legislation.

Two more mines also lost their licenses, but in the near future they will be liquidated.

Krasnodonugol operates under several mining special permits granted in relation to mines in Luhansk oblast containing coal, germanium and methane. The special permits are valid for periods ranging from 11 to 20 years and will expire at various dates between 2016 and 2027. Special permits with respect to Samsonivska-Zakhidna mine and mine named after Barakov will expire on September 4, 2019 and December 9, 2018 respectively, while permits regarding Duvanna and Sukhodolska-Skhidna mines expired in December 2016.

Avdiivka Coke and Chemical Works, also a part of Metinvest, owns 99.9297% of Krasnodonugol.

Krasnodonugol unites 7 mines and mine groups, 2 processing factories, as well as servicing companies. (Ukrainian metal)
