The Krasnoyarsk Aluminum Smelter (KrAZ, part of Rusal) is to implement the construction of a new foundry complex for the production of cylinder ingots of 230 mm to 457 mm diameter. The capacity of the new production complex will comprise 120,000 tons per year.
The foundry equipment installation is near completion. The complex is to be officially put into operation once the “hot tests” are successfully completed, with tests being planned for April.
KrAZ will produce large diameter ingots that are applied in the automotive and construction industry and as planned, sales will range not only in the Russian market, but also on the European Union market and the United States.
“The new foundry complex will be launched within Rusal’s strategy to increase value added products (VAP) output. Once commissioned, the new complex allows for the alloys’ stake increase in our product portfolio, as well as enabling us to increase our customer reach in Russia and abroad,” Evgeny Nikitin, Rusal’s Head of Aluminum Division, commented.
