In 2016 Ukraine mined 40.86 million tons of coal, up by 2.82% YoY, or by 1.12 million tons.
According to the Ministry of energy and coal industry, energy-generating coal output increased by 3.45% YoY, or by 1.09 million tons, to 32.5 million tons, coking coal – by 0.44%, or by 36.28 thousand tons, to 8.36 million tons.
State mines decreased coal output by 14.13% YoY, or by 952.97 thousand tons, to 5.79 million tons, with energy coal output down by 11.77% YoY, or by 564.25 thousand tons, to 4.23 million tons, and coking coal – by 19.93%, or by 388.72 thousand tons, to 1.56 million tons. (Ukrainian metal)
