To ensure the stable operation of thermal power plants in winter DTEK Energo has concluded a contract to import additional volumes of G-grade coal from Poland.

By February 2017, TPPs should receive 100 thousand tons of Polish coal. DTEK also continues buying out all the free volumes of coal from state mines.

Because of the cold weather in December electricity consumption increased by 8% YoY, and coal burning at TPPs – by 35%.

“We have increase coal output by 8% since the beginning of the year and have increased state coal purchases to the limit. We also buy additional volumes from Poland. In January2017 our TPPs will receive 50 thousand tons, with 50 thousand tons more in February”, DTEK Energo commercial director Vitaly Butenko said.

Average coal deliveries from state mines amount to 45-60 thousand tons per month, but DTEK is ready to increase purchases. (Ukrainian metal)
