Pridneprovsk Railways, a part of Ukrzaliznytsia, considers the words of ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih on the shortage of railroad cars an attempt to discredit and pressure the state transporting company.
“We call unto the company management not to manipulate the corruption theme, but to seek for constructive and mutually beneficial ways to solve the problem”, the railroad said in a statement.
It believes it is incorrect to say of the shortage of cars, when AMKR holds some 200-350 cars on its territory every day, with some cars standing idle even for a month.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia, in November AMKR received 2212 open cars, but returned 956 cars empty.
“These empty cars are what the company could have used to transport its products to the ports. So is there a shortage of open cars or a surplus?” asks Ukrzaliznytsia. (Ukrainian metal)
