In January-June Turkey imported 9.18 million tons of ferrous metals scrap valued at $1.97 billion, up by 8.4% and down by 20% YoY respectively.
According to the Turkish Statistical Institute, imports from US went up by 7.8%, to 1.89 million tons, from Russia – by 16.1%, to 1.43 million tons, and from UK – by 7.9%, to 1.25 million tons.
The fourth largest supplier of scrap were the Netherlands (up by 74%, to 1.25 million tons), followed by Belgium (up by 28.1%, to 999.2 thousand tons) and France (up 2.6 times, to 297.3 thousand tons).
Ukraine retained its 10th position, having decreased its exports by 66.3% YoY, to 228 thousand tons. In June Ukraine supplied 56.8 thousand tons of scrap, down by 64.2%.
In June Turkey imported 1.94 million tons of scrap valued at $504 million, up by 32.8% Yo (by 14.1% MoM) and by 26.8% YoY (30% MoM) respectively. (Ukrainian metal)
