Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works goes on expanding its range of rolled sheet at 1700 shop.
“We’ve started making 1.2×1000 mm rolled metal of 08PS low-carbon steel. Such products are in demand now. They allow to substitute the expensive cold-rolled coils with cheaper hot-rolled ones”, said the company CEO Yuri Zinchenko.
The works has already rolled 10 hot-rolled coils weighing almost 80 tons.
Zinchenko added that the company was working on increasing the width and strength of this rolled metal.
Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works is one of the major metal companies of Ukraine. It produced pipes and flat rolled metal of carbon, low-alloyed and alloyed steels. The works has the capacity to produce 12 million tons of sinter, over 4.3 million tons of pig iron, 3.7 million tons of converter steel and over 5 million tons of rolled metal per year.
