The Verkhovnaya Rada of Ukraine has increased the export duty on the ferrous metals scrap from 10 euro per ton to 30 euro for 1 year and cancelled the registration of import contracts.
248 people’s deputies supported the new version of the decree, which blocked the previous one on the 3-years term.
“This is the compromise that creates the best conditions for metal industry for now”, said the economical development and trade deputy minister Maxim Nefedov.
The previous edition of the decree violated Ukraine’s obligations to the WTO and EU and could have resulted in the antidumping investigations. At present the market is suffering from the scrap shortages, especially in two years following the annexation of Crimea by Russia and the Russia-enflamed war in the east. (Ukrainian metal)
