In August Ukrainian metal companies might decrease steel and rolled metal output by 4.5% and 5.3% MoM, to 2.1 million and 1.8 million tons respectively.
According to Ukrmetallurgprom, pig iron output will remain on July levels – 2.1 million tons.
In January-June steel output went up by 10% YoY, to 12.41 million tons, that of pig iron – by 17%, to 11.92 million tons, and of rolled metal – by 11%, to 10.85 million tons, with 1.76 million tons of pig iron, 1,83 million tons of steel and 1.53 million tons of rolled metal produced in May. Average daily output dropped by 19%, 18% and 21% MoM respectively.
The decrease was caused by the railroad strike.
As of July 12, 26 out of 28 blast furnaces (93%), 18 out of 21 converters (86%), 7 out of 9 open-hearth furnaces (78%) and 6 out of 16 electric furnaces (38%) were operating.
Ukrainian iron ore raw material deliveries in June totaled 2.2 million tons, down by 640 thousand tons MoM, with 14.2 million tons in H1 2016, up by 18% YoY. Russia supplied 70 thousand tons of raw materials, down by 80 thousand tons MoM. In H1 2016 Ukraine imported 1.17 million tons of raw materials, up by 67% YoY.
Iron ore raw materials exports in January-June reached 20 million tons, down by 12% YoY, with 3.3 million tons in June.
Metal companies also received 330 thousand tons of scrap, up by 30 thousand tons MoM, or 97% of the need. In H1 they received 1.5 million tons of scrap, down by 9% YoY, or 83% of the need. Scrap stocks in June went up by 50 thousand tons to 130 thousand tons.
In June Ukraine exported 27 thousand tons of scrap, with 233 thousand tons in H1 (691 thousand tons in January-June 2015). (Ukrainian metal)
