In January-June Ukrainian companies mined 18975.1 thousand tons of coal, down by 2.6% YoY, or by 496.6 thousand tons.
According to the Ministry of energy and coal industry, coking coal mining went up by 7.3% YoY, or by 4357.1 thousand tons, while that of power-generating coal dropped by 5.1% YoY, or by 793.6 thousand tons, to 14.61 million tons.
The ministry controlled companies mined 3018.1 thousand tons of coal, down by 12.2% YoY, or by 418.9 thousand tons, including 858.8 thousand tons of coking coal (down by 16.6% YoY, or by 171 thousand tons) and 2159.3 thousand tons of power-generating coal (down by 10.3%, or by 247.9 thousand tons).
In H1 2016 Donetsk region mines yielded 7641.1 thousand tons of coal (up by 11.8% YoY), those of Lugansk region – 1936.8 thousand tons (down by 0.2%), Dniepropetrovsk region – 8485.6 thousand tons (down by 10.8%), Lviv – 801.8 thousand tons (down by 23%), and of Volyn region – 109.8 thousand tons (down by 20% YoY).
