In January-May Ukraine produced 10.54 million tons of carbon steel, up by 14% YoY. This is preliminary data by Metallurgprom, while more precise information is expected after June 10.

Pig iron output increased by 21%, to 10.11 million tons, that of rolled metal – by 16.5%, to 9.32 million tons. Coke production went up by 30.7%, to 5.56 million tons, while that of steel pipes dropped by 10.3%, to 329.9 thousand tons, all YoY.

Thus steel smelting results continued a 6-months increase. Moreover, in May they were the largest for the past 22 months (since June 2014), when active military action in Donbass started. Average daily steel output was 73.2 thousand tons in May as opposed to 71.8 thousand tons in April. (Ukrainian metal)
