Interpipe believes, that in 2016 scrap procurement in Ukraine will fall by 7.1-14.3% YoY, to 3.6-3.9 million tons.
The key factor of raw materials shortage will be the fall of procurement due to the increasing exports.
“This year for the first time we will face the situation when the metal makers need of scrap will exceed procurement levels. With limited resources the country will have to decide what to do: to export either scrap or high-value added products, wheels and pipes, in particular”, says Interpipe economy and finances director Denis Morozov.
The company believes scrap exports in 2016 will be regulated with the 50-euro duty. (Ukrainian metal)
