In December 2015 the Dneprodzerzhinsk city council adopted a new ecological program. But the ecology activists think it needs reworking.
The new program addresses the operation of the major metal, coke and chemical companies, but the activists fear the council would free them from their responsibilities as to the environment activities of previous years.
The thing is most of the companies haven’t fulfilled their responsibilities to decrease air pollution. They simply carry the unmade measures from the old program to the new one.
“We are worried about the low demands of the state to pollution. Major companies in Dneprodzerzhinsk haven’t fulfilled their responsibilities about pollution decreasing. We know that metal and coke companies have increased their output, yet nothing is done to protect the environment”, said Nature Voice ecological organization executive director Yevgeni Kolyshevsky.
