In January-October Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works, controlled by the Industrial Union of Donbass, produced 301 thousand tons of rolled metal, down by 86.9% YoY.
According to the company statement, its steel smelting fell by 86.5% to 339 thousand tons, while that of pig iron – by 84.7%, to 359 thousand tons.
The works still operates only one blast furnace, put into operation in June, after it stopped in August 2014.
In October Alchevsk produced 94 thousand tons of pig iron, 103 thousand tons of steel and 103 thousand tons of pig iron, with 80, 91 and 74 thousand tons in September respectively.
In 2014 the works produced 2.31 million tons of rolled metal, 2.5 million tons of steel and 2.34 million tons of pig iron, all down by 39.3%, 40% and 38.2% YoY respectively. The fall was the result of the military activity in the region. (Ukrainian metal)
