The Eurasian Economic Commission decided to impose a 5-year 4.75% antidumping duty on steel wheels (for manufacture of railroad cars and trams) imports from Ukraine. The duty could be imposed in the early 2016.

This duty will mostly affect Interpipe, the main supplier of steel wheels.

In 2013 Ukraine supplied 63100-67600 tons of steel wheels worth $94-101.4 million to EAEU, or 13.2% of the consumption.

OMK believes the duty doesn’t correspond to the dumping volumes.

“We will see if this can protect the market”, said an Evraz representative.

OMK and Evraz are Russia’s largest steel wheels manufacturers. In 2014 they produced 98.9% of the total output in EAEU. (Ukrainian metal)
