Pavel Zhebrivsky, the head of the Donetsk regional administration, said the Cabinet of Ministers was sent a project of the decree to return processing factories to the state property.
Under the previous president these factories were given to MAKO group, owned by the president’s son Alexander Yanukovich.
To control coal flows from state mines, the family-controlled companies created limited liability companies, with names resembling those of real coal enterprises. Thus, Mine 1-3 Novgorodovskaya LLC was created, while the real mine with that name was a part of the State Enterprise Selidovugol.
Such legal tricks allowed MAKO to control purchases of mining machinery for these companies, that is sell it overpriced, by cheap coal and again sell it at high price to the state. Thus they gained millions. (Ukrainian metal)
