In January-November 2014 Ukrainian companies exported 837.14 thousand tons of scrap for $265.44 million as opposed to 219.47 thousand tons for $68.42 million in 2013.
Meanwhile imports fell by 86% YoY, to 27.88 thousand tons for $14.71 million, down by 80.5%.
The main importers of scrap were Kazakhstan (59.21%), Turkey (38.09%) and Russia (1.56%), while exports went to Turkey (89.59%) and Moldova (10.1%).
Ukraine didn’t export scrap in November 2012 through June 2013. In the second half of 2013 Ukraine exported 255.27 thousand tons of scrap metal ($79.64 million) as opposed to 366.54 thousand tons (for $153.13 million) in 2012.
In 2013 Ukraine increased imports of scrap 2.1 times, to 238.53 thousand tons, or by 40.1%, to $89.4 million. (Ukrainian metal)
