Ukrainian steelmaker Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works plans to decrease slab shipments in May by 20% compared to April to 200,000-205,000 tons.
This reduction in semi-finished steel shipments is caused by rising demand for hot-rolled flat steel. In April the company decreased shipments of slabs by 8% compared to March to 255,000 tons.
In May Alchevsk plans to produce 110,000 tons of hot-rolled flat steel, almost double the volume in April. In May the company plans to increase crude steel production by 12% compared to April to 340,000 tons. In January to April Alchevsk produced over 1.2 million tons of crude steel, up by 4% compared to the same period of last year. (SteelOrbis)
