Interpipe is continuing the construction of its new electric steel smelting complex Interpipe Steel with capacity of 1.32 million tons of steel billets per year. Currently, construction works at the building site are 72% complete.
The continuous casting machine 1 and continuous casting machine 2, a ferroalloy warehouse, gas-cleaning and chemical water treatment sets are nearing full installation and completion. Construction of the 330 kW cable line has been completed and tests are successfully accomplished. Work on setting up the substation Pechnaya of 330/35.10 kW and cells of Pridneprovskaya Thermal Power Station continue.
Mr. Gennadiy Esaulov, director of Interpipe Steel, said “At the end of 2011 we plan to start cold tests, for this reason we are recruiting in key areas at the plant. To ensure the full functioning of the electric steel smelting complex we will need to train 400 qualified specialists that will be involved in technological process management.” (SteelGuru)
