It is reported that in August the Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works became Ukraine’s largest steelmaker surpassing Arcelor Mittal Kriviy Rih with a 16% MoM growth to reach 486,000 tons monthly output. IUD’s Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works named after F. Dzerzhinsky (DMKD) production jumped by 39% due to a resumed supply of the required resources.
According to Millennium Capital analyst “The news is Positive for steel producers. Ilyich has shown substantial production increase, planning to capitalize on the rising global steel prices. DMKD resumed operations, apparently settling or restructuring the debt for raw materials supplied by Metinvest.” (Millennium Capital)
