According to the preliminary data issued by the Ministry of Industrial Policy of Ukraine, in January 2010 Ukraine registered a 20% YoY increase in its finished steel product output to 2.433 million tons and a 26% rise in its crude steel output to 2.726 million tons.
In the first month of 2010, Ukraine saw a 25% YoY increase in its pig iron production to 2.337 million tons and a 19% YoY growth in its coke output to 1.52 million tons.
Furthermore, in January 2010 the country’s production of steel pipes went up by 26% YoY to 209,000 tons, while its output of hardware increased by 13% YoY to 13,500 tons.
In its iron ore segment in January this year Ukraine produced about 6.564 million tons of iron ore and 5.387 million tons of iron ore concentrate up by 53% YoY and 57% YoY respectively. In addition, in January 2010 the country’s agglomerate production amounted to 3.262 million tons up by 22% YoY while its pellet production totaled 1.86 million tons up by 42% YoY. (SteelOrbis)
