It is reported that the major Ukrainian steelmakers have released their preliminary production results for the first nine months of 2009.

1. Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol reduced its finished steel product output by 38% and its pipe production by 62.5% YoY to 2.23 million tons and 26,800 tons respectively. Ilyich crude steel production decreased by 36%, its pig iron output by 32% and its agglomerate production by 41% YoY. The respective figures in tons were 3.1million, 2.6 million and 5.77 million.
2. During January to September 2009, Azovstal decreased its crude steel output by 30.9% YoY to 3.23 million tons, its pig iron production by 28.3% YoY to 2.78 million tons and its finished steel production by 30.3% YoY to 2.97 million tons. Meanwhile, Azovstal metallurgical coke output registered a drop of 19.3% YoY to 1.47 million tons.
3. In January to September 2009, ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih produced 3.22 million tons of finished steel down by 30.9% YoY, 3.52 million tons of crude steel down by 35.7% YoY, 3.08 million tons of pig iron down by 37.5% YoY and 5.53 million tons of agglomerate down by 32.5% YoY.
4. During the period in question, Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works reduced its pig iron production by 23% YoY, its crude steel production by 26.2%, its finished steel production by 25.4% and its agglomerate production by about 5%. The respective figures in tons were 2.53 million, 2.8 million, 2.55 million and 3.4 million.
5. During the first nine months of this year, Yenakievo Iron and Steel Works decreased its pig iron production by 24% YoY to 1.58 million tons, its crude steel production by 19.4% YoY to 1.79 million tons, its finished steel output by 23% YoY to 1.7 million tons and its agglomerate production by 6% YoY to 1.53 million tons.
6. Meanwhile during the given period, the Ukrainian steelmaker Zaporizhstal registered a 22.3% YoY decrease in its finished steel production and a 24.3% YoY decline in its crude steel production to 2.04 million tons and 2.43 million tons respectively. Zaporizhstal agglomerate production went down by 16.4% YoY and its pig iron production declined by 23%. The respective figures in metric tons were 3.586 million and 2.03 million.
7. In January to September, Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works named after F. Dzerzhinsky slightly decreased its crude steel production by 2% YoY to 2.59 million tons and its pig iron production by 1.9% YoY to 2.41 million tons. Meanwhile, during the period in question, the plant increased its output of finished steel by 10% YoY to 2.48 million tons and its agglomerate production by 0.25% YoY to 3.58 million tons.
8. During the first nine months of 2009, Makeevsk MZ did not produce any crude steel or pig iron and registered a 30% decrease in its finished steel output to 545,000 tons. (SteelOrbis)
