The Ukrainian pipe and railway wheel producer Interpipe Corporation has announced that it has successfully tested Q125 grade casing pipes with the Ukrainian Premium Joint connection at its Dnepropetrovsk based subsidiary Interpipe NTRP.
The UPJ connection has been developed by the Interpipe and is used for equipping horizontal and inclined wells. Compression of the premium joint metal-metal in combination with the resistant trapezoidal thread provides high strength and durability to the ultimate joint strength. In addition, the UPJ connection is compatible with NEW VAM type of thread connection.
Mr Fadi Hraibi Interpipes’s product and resource management director has stated that “Pipes of G125 grade with premium joint are widely used nowadays for the drilling of ultra deep wells in the gas and oil fields of Ukraine. For this reason we are sure that the development of casing pipes from high strength steel grades with UPJ connection will make domestic oil and gas companies more competitive by equipping them with technologically advanced products.”
Accordingly, by the end of September 2009, Interpipe plans to finish the process of certification of its new Q125 grade casing pipes with UPJ connection for compliance with API 5CT international standard, which will allow it to offer this product in the international market.
Interpipe is already producing tubing and casing pipes with the UPJ connection, which are successfully used in the oil-rigs of Syria, UAE, Morocco, Nigeria, Congo, Gabon and other countries. (SteelOrbis)
