In H1 Ukrainian metal companies investments dropped by 16% YoY.

According to the experts, this has to do with the gradual completion of investment programs, started in 2012-2013.

In H1 the largest investments into their redevelopment were made by Zaporizhstal (820.9 million UAH), ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih (743.6 million UAH) and Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works (516.3 million UAH).

In 2017 analysts expect investments to total 8-9 billion UAH.

Zaporizhstal spent its money on the blast furnace No. 4 overhaul, sintering factory modernization with implementation of a new gas-purifying system, as well as the reconstruction of gas-mixing station and mixed gas pipeline repairs.

In April the company resumed modernization of its No. 3 blast furnace to increase its capacities to 1.1 million tons of pig iron per year. The blast furnace will be put into operation in spring 2017. Investments total $53 million. (Ukrainian metal)
