According to Mr. Sergey Belenky, deputy minister of industrial policy of Ukraine, Ukrainian steelmaking companies plan to increase pig iron output by 4.8% to 28.5 million tons, steel smelting by 5.6% to 34 million tons and finished steel by 5.6% to 32 million tons in 2011.
The expected production in 2010, according to the Ministry data, is 27.2 million tons of pig iron, 32.2 million tons of crude steel and 30.3 million tons of finished steel. So, in December it is planned to increase pig iron production by 6.7% to 2.47 million tons, steel production by 3.9% to 2.96 million tons and finished steel output by 4.4% to 2.75 million tons.
