Russian metals and mining giant Mechel has prolonged a contract with Turkish steel producer Kardemir to raise exports of metallurgic coke by almost 70%, to 200,000 tons in 2019, Mechel said in a statement on January 15.

The company will sell coke produced by Mechel’s Moscow Coke and Gas Plant through the Mechel-Temryuk port in the Krasnodar region at a price defined at quarterly negotiations, the company said.

Mechel raised coke exports by 16% YoY in January-September 2018, and the deal with Kardemir was one of the reasons for the growth, the company said quoting Pavel Shtark, CEO of Mechel-Mining. (Prime/Ukrainian metal)
