On May 20, after a four-day protest, the railwaymen from the third shift came back to work, on the night of May 20 to May 21 the first shift followed, and starting from May 21 morning there was the second shift back in operation (four shifts in total). Railway Transport shop of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih has got stable operation at the moment, 82 locomotives are on the line (all own). The company is recovering its metallurgical cycle and facilities step-by-step.
Despite severe financial situation caused by a dramatic production decline, management of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih is making every effort to ensure social support for its employees, and avoid any failures of salary payment for the month of May. Thus, the management made a decision to pay an advance in full and on time – on May 22 – including the increase announced earlier. Starting from May 1, basic salary for the company employees has been increased by 5% to 20%.
But, considering the present situation, the company has to suspend some social projects. Starting from May 21, “Tour package for leave” is temporarily suspended; this project was enabling the employees to compensate for a part of their travel cost. Apart from that, payment of financial support to the employees, and the work of Dzherelo, a health care center, is suspended as well.
The company will nevertheless maintain the service of its kids rest camps, Parus and Burevestnik, holiday centers, Azov and Alye Parusa, as well as tourist camps provided to the company employees for free. Preferential prices for meals in the canteens and buffets, and medical insurance will remain. Further funding of social infrastructure and benefits will depend on the company performance.
The company appeals to its people to maintain stable work, and not to go for another attempt to stir the situation in favor of particular political forces. As they put their ambitions and ratings above the work of this plant and other metallurgical plants of the country, including Ukrzaliznytsia. This may ruin well being and economical growth of Ukraine, which is based on successful operation of mining and metallurgical and transport sector. (AMKR/Ukrainian metal)
