Specialists of the metallurgical equipment repair shop of the Kametstal metallurgical plant have developed a technology for overhauling hopper wagons, which is a quarter more profitable than external contracts.
The plant’s specialists are mastering new repair technologies that allow them to reduce equipment repair costs. Last year, this strategy brought significant results to Kametstal: employees of the metallurgical equipment repair shop repaired 349 units of mobile equipment. The equipment returned to work for railway workers, sinter workers and steelmakers.
Among the most effective is the masterfully developed technology of overhauling hopper cars, which turned out to be a quarter more profitable than external contracts. During the work, the car undergoes renovation: after dismantling to the frame, the craftsmen restore the supporting structures and completely replace the skin, effectively creating a new unit based on the old wheeled part. The result in 2025 is six hopper cars, which have already returned to transporting hot sinter. (Rail.Insider)
