Uzbekistan plans to raise its gold production to 118 tons in 2025, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has announced during a meeting with education sector workers, where he also emphasized the government’s intention to introduce a unified state exam in schools.
The head of state recalled that in 2016 the country produced 86 tons of gold, while until the end of this year the figure is expected to reach 118 tons. He also noted that uranium production in the republic had doubled.
According to the World Gold Council (WGC), Uzbekistan ranked among the world’s top ten gold producers in 2024, extracting 129 tons of the metal, which accounted for 3.5% of global output. (UzDaily)
