Metinvest will free-of-charge produce steel for Ukrainian Tryzub that will replace the Soviet crest on the “Motherland” monument in Kyiv and will become a financial partner of the project to reconstruct the landmark.

The project was developed by Ukrainian Institute of Steel Structures named after Shimanovskiy. The Ukrainian Tryzub on the shield is a volumetric structure identical to the old crest. The Tryzub will be made of two metal types: Metinvest stainless steel with the thickness of 1.7 mm and foreign steel with the thickness of 1.5 mm.

The “Motherland” monument itself was made of the steel from Zaporizhstal, Azovstal and Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works.

To make the Tryzub, Metinvest has attracted specialist from its several Ukrainian companies. The rolled metal for the new symbol was made at Zaporizhstal, that brought back the steel grade from which the monument was made in 1981.

The structure will be assembled until August 24, the Ukraine’s Independence Day. (Ukrainian metal)
