In 2022, visible demand for steel in Poland totaled 11.3 million tons, down by 2 million tons YoY. According to the Polish Steel Distributors Union (PUDS), the steel market was severely hit by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The negative trend will continue this year.

Steel output in 2022 dropped by 10%, to 7.5 million tons, mostly due to the suspension of the blast furnace No. 3 at Dabrowa Gornicza. Now the furnace is operating again, but the blast furnace No. 2 has been shut down. This means, the plant will continue operating at half of its capacities. (Ukrainian metal)
