Due to complicated logistics, increase in transportation costs as well as the drop of global metal prices, Ukrainian metal products are losing competitiveness on world market, the companies are forced to decrease output and Ukraine loses currency income.
In order to save the mining and metallurgical complex of Ukraine, authorities have to take urgent measures, or both the manufacturing potential and experience workers will be lost.
This is said in the letter of Severniy Mining and Processing Works to the Prime Minister Dmytro Shmyhal.
The enterprise finds itself in the most difficult situation in its history.
“Because of the growth of railroad tariff by 140% and land tax by 160%, SevGOK was forced to suspend ore extraction and decrease output to 19% of the pre-war level in July,” the letter said. (Ukrainian metal)
