Because of high railroad tariffs, it’s unprofitable for Ukrainian manufacturers to ship ore to China.

“Ukrainian railroad tariffs are very high. Tariffs in Europe are even higher. Combined, they make it unprofitable for us to ship ore to China,” Metinvest CEO Yuri Ryzhenkov has said.

According to him, Ukrainian ore producers were forced to decrease output.

“There is no other way. We have European customers, who we supply with ore. And we will work at the maximum capacity. But they will not be able to take all the ore that we produce. Everything else has to be shipped somewhere – to the Near East or to Asia,” he added. (Ukrainian metal)
