Mines will not be closed or liquidated until their employees get another job, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said during an all-Ukrainian meeting of coal workers on February 25.

“No mine can be closed or liquidated until people get a new job, secure and decent pay. First, new jobs for these people, and only then we will start talking about something else,” Zelensky said.

He noted that this would be the main principle of a coal regional transformation plan developed by the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development. (Ukrinform/Ukrainian metal)
