Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) shipped 1.286 million tons of galvanized steel in 2019, the highest figure in the company’s history.

2019 was the second year in a row that MMK broke its own record. In 2018, the company shipped 1.269 million tons of galvanized steel, which at the time was also a record volume, up by nearly 12% YoY.

Over the past 20 years MMK has been consistently increasing production of high-margin products. In 2002 and 2008, the company commissioned two high-performance continuous hot-dip galvanizing lines with a capacity of 500,000 tons and 450,000 tons, respectively. In 2012, MMK commissioned the second stage of a cold-rolling unit, comprising a continuous hot-dip galvanizing line, as well as a combined continuous annealing and hot-dip galvanizing aggregate. In July 2017, MMK put into operation unit No. 3 for continuous hot-dip galvanizing which has a capacity of 360,000 tons per year.

By investing into the development of facilities producing high-value added products, MMK has maintained its position as the largest Russian supplier of galvanized steel and is consistently named as the leader among coated metal producers in industry rankings. (MMK/Ukrainian metal)
