Baimskaya ore field is one of the largest in the world in terms of copper-porphyry resources with 23 million tons of copper and 2 thousand tons of gold.
It comprises 13 deposits.
Baimsky Mining and Processing Works is to be constructed by 2026 and to reach its design capacity in 2028.
The project is carried out with the help of KAZ Minerals.
Investments in the project are estimated at $5.5 billion.
Baimsky GOK is expected to produce 476 thousand tons of copper concentrate (148 thousand tons of copper) and 276.5 thousand ounces of gold per year.
At first it was expected to be commissioned in 2024-2025. (Ukrainian metal)
